RANK 2 - India - 761,318 - India is the world's 2nd largest producer of tobacco with an estimated annual production of around 800 million kgs. RANK 4 - USA - 285,181 - The United States is the fourth largest tobacco-producing country in the world, following China, India, and Brazil. RANK 5 - Indonesia - 196,154 - Thousand metric tons of tobacco were produced in Indonesia. RANK 6 - Zimbabwe - 172,266 - Zimbabwe is the largest grower of tobacco in Africa, and the 6th largest grower in the world RANK 7 - Zambia - 124,642 - According to WHO estimates, Zambia is among the top five tobacco leaf growing countries in Africa and accounted for 9.7% of tobacco leaf production in Africa in 2012 RANK 8 - Pakistan - 116,157 - There are 75,000 tobacco growers producing tobacco all over Pakistan. Out of these more than 45,000 growers are located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa producing 98% of Flue Cured Virginia over an area of 25,500 hectares in the districts of Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Buner and Mansehra. RANK 9 - Tanzania - 102,473 - Tanzania is Africa's third biggest tobacco producer, after Zimbabwe and Malawi. Fifty-three thousand tonnes of tobacco were produced in 2007 and, according to the Tanzania Tobacco Board, the target is 100,000 by 2010. About 85% of all tobacco grown in Tanzania is exported outside the country. RANK 10 - Argentina - 93,671 - Tobacco producers are concentrated in the north of the country. The provinces of Jujuy and Salta (in the north-west), and Misiones (in the north-eastern Mesopotamia), are the leading ones, with over 45,000 tonnes/year each. The other tobacco-producing provinces are Tucumán, Corrientes, Chaco and Catamarca. Worldwide 6,665,713 tonnes of tobacco is produced per year. China is the largest tobacco producer in the world with 2,806,770 tonnes production volume per year. India comes second with 761,318 tonnes yearly production. China and India produce together more than 50% of World's total.
